The feast of Ura Kidane Mehret (February 24 Gregorian calendar)
The feast of Kidane Mehret (Covenant of Mercy) is a day which honours the merciful power of St. Mary the Blessed Mother. It is kept on Yekatit 16 in the Ethiopian Calendar (Feb.24 Gregorian calendar). Ura Kidane Mehret is a church of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, located on the Zeghe peninsula in Lake Tana of Ethiopia. It is part of the complex of the Convent of Mercy. This festival is celebrated in this church with prayers and chants on Zeghe Peninsula.
